Acupressure, breathing-facilitation, stress-release, music-mentoring, coaching.

- I spent a long time "battling against myself" in practising, playing, composing and organizing music. It was only when I let go that I began to understand that I had been my own worst "enemy" - I started to work with my body and with my innate spirit to heal the unconscious war that had prevented me from expressing my fuller Self in my music.

As part of my awakening to the malaise of stressful music-making and the toll it was taking on my body, mind and spirit, I enrolled in training that would lead me to study Traditional Chinese Medicine through acupressure. My main teacher and mentor, Yaquta Morton, was also a gifted violinist, and it soon became clear to me how acupressure could be used to heal both obvious and hidden blocks to professional music-making. One of the beauties of this ancient system is that the musician (and indeed, anyone who is open to it) can be shown how to self-heal. Previously I had studied Feldenkrais exercises; with the life-changing series of week-long workshops in Re-birthing/Source Breathing and related alternative therapies that I was now immersed in, I was beginning to understand how I could combine these with accompanying, mentoring (especially for emerging younger musicians) and coaching.

For the past 6 years, this combination has been part of what I do. Teaching others these self-help skills has concurrently helped me experience much deeper music-making and given me tools to be able to go into "the zone" more easily - that place from which music-making is comparatively effortless and wonderfully pleasure-filled. I invite you to join me in exploring this joy-filled place. I can give you more information by email or by phone - see contact details.
